Echinacea ‘Panama Red’ forms a low, dense and well-branched clump, noticeably more compact than many echinaceas commonly used in borders. Its upright stems carry intense red flower heads centred on a prominent copper-red to dark cone. Flowering starts early and continues throughout summer into September. The green deciduous foliage dies back in winter before regrowing from the crown in spring. This perennial performs best in a sunny position and, above all, in well-drained soil. During flowering, its blooms provide pollen and nectar for various pollinating insects.

Thanks to its compact growth, Echinacea ‘Panama Red’ is particularly suitable for the front of borders, edging, rock gardens and perennial planting schemes. Its restricted size also makes it well suited to containers and planters on terraces or in smaller landscaped areas. When planted in groups, its red flowers create strong, uniform blocks of colour.
