The Euphorbia Portuguese velvet is a variety particularly interesting by its compact prot, forming a very dense cushion. Its foliage is smaller and more rounded than other Euphorbia characias. The foliage has a comforter which gives a velvety compactness to the whole. Very beautiful grey-blue foliage color. The spring bloom rises above the cushion, a beautiful lemon yellow with a brown center.
How to use Euphorbia Portuguese velvet.
Euphorbia tolerates cold seasons and dry situations well. You can use it in the foreground for a bed border, in a pot or in a tub. In bedding, it can be combined with grasses, gaura or perovskia.
What are the tips to grow Euphorbia Portuguese velvet successfully.
It is a good idea to apply an organic amendment or a complete fertilizer every year at the beginning of the vegetation. When planting, make sure to water well. Although it can be planted all year round, we recommend planting from September to November. Euphorbia will thrive in poor calcareous soil as long as it is well drained. Prefer pruning in the fall using gloves. Indeed, the latex it contains is toxic and can cause irritation.
