Characteristics of Heuchera 'Lime Marmalade'®

Heuchera 'Lime Marmalade'® develops a compact, rounded clump approximately 30 cm high and 45 cm wide. Its large evergreen leaves are deeply lobed and ruffled, with colours ranging from lemon yellow to lime green depending on the season, exposure and growing conditions. In early summer, slender flower stems rise above the foliage and carry small creamy-white flowers. The particularly bright foliage is its main distinguishing feature and creates effective contrasts with purple- or bronze-leaved Heuchera cultivars. In colder climates, the foliage may be temporarily affected during winter.

How to use Heuchera 'Lime Marmalade'®?

Heuchera 'Lime Marmalade'® is particularly suitable for the front of borders, edging, light woodland-style planting schemes and repeated group planting. Its yellow-green foliage visually brightens shaded areas and contrasts well with darker-leaved perennials. It combines effectively with ferns, Hostas, Carex and other perennials suited to moist but well-drained soils. Its compact habit also makes it suitable for pots, window boxes and containers. Several plants grouped together can form a regular ground-cover effect, although complete soil coverage should not be expected immediately after planting.

What are the best growing tips for Heuchera 'Lime Marmalade'®?

Plant Heuchera 'Lime Marmalade'® in partial shade or bright shade, in humus-rich, fertile, moist but well-drained soil. Avoid prolonged exposure to intense sun, which can damage the pale foliage. Allow approximately 40 to 45 cm between plants and position the crown at soil level. Water regularly during the establishment phase, then water when the soil begins to dry, especially during warm periods. Avoid stagnant moisture around the crown in winter. Remove damaged leaves at the end of winter and spent flower stems after flowering. A moderate application of well-rotted compost in spring supports new seasonal growth.
