The characteristics of Physocarpus opulifolius Panther®.
The Physocarpus opulifolius Panther® is the darkest of the Physocarpus with purple foliage, even the diabolo next to it looks light and dull. The foliage is fine, shiny black-purple really dark. The twigs are also black. The flowering is of a pinkish white which contrasts with the foliage. Even if it is a little less flowering than the other Physocarpus, it is still interesting. Its habit is compact and relatively erect, it will reach a height of 1m50. It is a variety that is resistant to the diseases and rot that attack Physocarpus.
How to use Physocarpus opulifolius Panther®.
The Physocarpus opulifolius Panther® is a perfect shrub for medium sized hedges or shrub beds. To be combined with light foliage such as Sambucus Sutherland, Pittosporum teunuifolium variegatum, Teucrium Curacao...; in order to bring out the colour of its foliage.

Physocarpus opulifolius Panther® is not demanding, to have the darkest possible foliage it should be placed in a sunny position. It is not very demanding on the nature of the soil, but it will still prefer a drained soil.
