Abutilon × pictum ‘Souvenir de Bonn’, commonly known as flowering maple or Chinese lantern, belongs to the Malvaceae family. Its flexible, upright habit reaches an average height of 2 m with a spread of 1.5 m. Its palmate, maple-like leaves feature a particularly bright cream margin. The foliage remains evergreen under protection but may become semi-evergreen or even deciduous when temperatures approach 0°C. From June to October, the shrub produces pendulous flowers approximately 6 cm long, salmon-orange and finely veined with red. Its limited hardiness requires a warm, sheltered position.
