Ajuga reptans ‘Blueberry Muffin’® belongs to the Lamiaceae family. This stoloniferous perennial quickly forms a compact mat approximately 15 cm high and 45 cm wide. Its small, thick, glossy, spoon-shaped leaves are dark green, while the young growth develops bronze to chocolate tones, especially under bright light. From April to June, numerous upright spikes carry violet-blue, two-lipped flowers. More vigorous and slightly taller than ‘Chocolate Chip’, this selection also has thicker foliage, providing improved resistance to heat and difficult weather conditions.

Plant Ajuga reptans ‘Blueberry Muffin’® in spring or autumn, in humus-rich, moist and well-drained soil. The cultivar tolerates clay soils, but the crown must not remain waterlogged for prolonged periods. Space plants 35 to 40 cm apart, corresponding to approximately six to eight plants per square metre. Water regularly during establishment, then maintain moderate soil moisture during dry periods. Light partial shade helps preserve foliage quality, while full sun is suitable if the soil remains moist. Heavy fertilisation is unnecessary.
