ASTRANTIA Moulin Rouge® is a cultivated variety derived from Astrantia major, native to Central Europe. It is known for its striking deep red flowers surrounded by dark, almost black bracts. The dark green, deeply lobed foliage forms a dense clump. Reaching 45–60 cm in height and 30–45 cm in width, it blooms from June to September and is highly attractive to bees and butterflies. ASTRANTIA Moulin Rouge® is ideal for shaded borders, woodland gardens, and naturalistic plantings. It pairs well with ferns, hostas, and heucheras. Its blooms are excellent for fresh or dried flower arrangements. It can also be grown in containers to enhance patios or balconies. Plant ASTRANTIA Moulin Rouge® in rich, humus-based soil that stays moist but drains well. Partial shade is ideal, though it can tolerate full sun with consistent moisture. Water regularly during dry periods. Deadhead spent blooms to extend the flowering period and limit self-seeding. Divide clumps every 3 to 4 years in spring to maintain plant vigor.Characteristics of ASTRANTIA Moulin Rouge®
