Characteristics of Rudbeckia Summerina® Glow Sugar

Rudbeckia Summerina® Glow Sugar forms a compact, upright and well-branched clump reaching around 50 cm in height. This selection combines characteristics of both Rudbeckia and Echinacea, including large flower heads and sturdy growth. The flowers feature broad, bright yellow ray florets surrounding a prominent dark brown central cone. They are carried on strong stems above dense green foliage. Flowering continues over several months, mainly from July to October. Its hardiness is more limited than that of many perennial rudbeckias, so additional protection may be required in regions with cold winters.

How to use Rudbeckia Summerina® Glow Sugar?

Thanks to its compact habit, Rudbeckia Summerina® Glow Sugar is suitable for sunny borders, edging, group plantings, large pots and planters. Its long flowering season helps extend the interest of summer displays well into autumn. Its yellow flowers with brown centres combine effectively with ornamental grasses, salvias, asters and other summer- and autumn-flowering perennials. In containers, it can provide structure and colour on terraces and landscaped professional spaces. In the ground, planting several specimens in small groups creates a stronger visual impact.

What are the cultivation tips for Rudbeckia Summerina® Glow Sugar?

Plant Rudbeckia Summerina® Glow Sugar in full sun, in fertile, humus-rich and well-drained soil. Allow approximately 35 to 40 cm between plants to support good clump development and air circulation. Keep the soil regularly moist during growth and flowering, while avoiding waterlogging. In containers, use a free-draining substrate and apply a suitable flowering-plant fertiliser regularly during the growing season. Remove faded flower heads to maintain a neat appearance and encourage continued flowering. In areas exposed to severe frost, winter protection or container cultivation with frost-free overwintering may be necessary.
