Characteristics of Rudbeckia Sunbeckia® ‘Mia’

Rudbeckia Sunbeckia® ‘Mia’ forms a compact, upright and well-branched clump, reaching around 45 cm in height. Its large flower heads feature broad golden-yellow ray florets arranged around a strongly contrasting dark brown centre. This selection combines the typical appearance of rudbeckias with a more compact growth habit, making it particularly suitable for container cultivation. Flowers are produced continuously over several months when growing conditions are favourable. Its dense green foliage supports the summer display. Due to its limited hardiness, it is mainly used as a seasonal plant in regions where winter temperatures fall well below freezing.

How to use Rudbeckia Sunbeckia® ‘Mia’?

Thanks to its compact size, Rudbeckia Sunbeckia® ‘Mia’ is well suited to pots, large planters, terraces and summer displays. In the ground, it can be planted at the front or middle of sunny borders, either in groups or combined with other summer-flowering plants. Its golden-yellow flowers with dark centres combine particularly well with ornamental grasses, salvias, echinaceas and purple-leaved plants. Several plants can be grouped together to create a denser visual effect. Its moderate dimensions also make it suitable for small gardens and landscape schemes where planting space is limited.

What are the cultivation tips for Rudbeckia Sunbeckia® ‘Mia’?

Plant Rudbeckia Sunbeckia® ‘Mia’ in full sun, in fertile, humus-rich and well-drained soil. In flower beds, allow approximately 35 to 40 cm between plants to support good branching and air circulation. Maintain regular soil moisture during growth and flowering, especially in hot weather, while avoiding waterlogging. In containers, use a free-draining substrate and monitor watering more closely. A suitable flowering-plant fertiliser can be applied during the growing season in pots. Remove faded flower heads regularly to maintain a neat appearance and support continued flowering.
