Characteristics of Aloe aculeata.

Aloe aculeata is a species of aloe native to South Africa, as well as southern and central Zimbabwe and Mozambique. It grows on rocky outcrops in grasslands and dry bushveld. The term 'Aculeata' refers to the spines on the surface of the leaf and the teeth on its edges. Aloe aculeata is a solitary, rosette-forming succulent that can grow up to 70 cm high under ideal conditions. In its natural habitat it survives severe drought conditions. The leaves are long and fairly broad, curving upwards to give the aloe a rounded appearance. They have teeth on both sides of their leaves, with a pale base and a sharp dark brown or black tip.
