Fargesia robusta Formidable Wenchuan bamboo is a non-invasive bamboo very decorative with its reddening straws that change according to the seasons. Dense and vigorous, it reaches about 4m high with maturity and makes the perfect visual barrier as long as it has a great sun exposure. We plant it isolated in order to enjoy its graphic habit or also in large vat to decorate the balcony as well as the terrace.

This non invasive bamboo (clumping) comes from Southwestern China, it was introduced in 1997 in Holland. Bambou Fargesia robusta Formidable Wenchuan is extremely decorative thanks to its straws that turn to red according to the seasons, and also thanks to its green, shining and airy foliage. Dense and vigorous, it reaches about 4m high with maturity, which is slightly less than it peers. 

How to use Bambou Fargesia robusta Formidable Wenchuan ?

This bamboo Fargesia robusta Formidable Wenchuan perfectly suits to isolated growing (it forms a nice tuft), it also creates evergreen dense hedges (we plant one bamboo every 80cm), or even large vat's growing in order to magnify any terraces or balconies. Combined with other fargesia in a zen garden or a minerals one it is wonderful. 

What advices to achieve the Bambou Fargesia robusta Formidable Wenchuan's growth ?

We choose a sun exposure or a semi shady one. It is quite rustic, until -18°C. It is non invasive that is why it doesn't need any anti-rhyzome barrier when we plant it. Water it generously in case of dryness.
