Characteristics of LUZULA sylvatica.

Luzula sylvatica, a native of undergrowth, thrives in mid to full shade. Forming dense clumps with bright linear leaves, it is an ideal ground cover under deciduous trees. It blooms lightly with brownish spikelets from April to June. Cold-hardy down to -20°C, this slow-growing grass is also drought-tolerant, but not recommended for seaside locations.

How to use LUZULA sylvatica?

It thrives perfectly under trees or among small deciduous shrubs, in partially shaded areas with occasionally dry soil, or in humus-rich soil. It can be combined with vinca, geranium or hostas.

How to grow LUZULA sylvatica successfully?

Ideally planted in semi-shade or shade, it prefers humus-rich, cool, moderately fertile and, above all, well-drained soil. It does not adapt well to dry, stony soils.
